EA reports strongest second quarter ever, per Q2 2022 financial results

Electronic Arts (EA)sharedits Q2 fiscal year 2022 results, confirming that this was the best second quarter in the company’s history. EA saw over $1.8 billion in net bookings for the quarter. With expecations for the quarter beaten, EA is raising its expectations for the full year. Respawn Entertainment’s ongoing Apex Legends continues to grow, reaching $1.6 billion in lifetime bookings.

EA also noted that it has completed the acquisition of mobile studio Playdemic, though the team is still being integrated into the rest of EA Worldwide Studios.

In the near future, EA is launchingBattlefield 2042, noting that over 7.7 million players took part in the beta. Battlefield 2042 supports 128 players on the latest consoles and PC, with the last-generation versions restricted to 64 players. EA also shared that interest in Battlefield 2042 is higher than interest was heading into 2018’s Battlefield 5.

Looking further ahead, EA’s development teams are still working on slate of major games without release dates, including theDead Space remakefrom Motive Studios, as well asDragon Age 4and thenext Mass Effect, both of which are being developed by BioWare.

Battlefield 2042 is the latest big game from DICE, with support from several other teams at Electronic Arts Worldwide Studios. The game supports destruction, massive storms and up to 128 players on the latest consoles.
