Dynabook’s refreshed Tecra A40-K and A50-K laptops are built for modern hybrid workers

Dynabook has announced new 14-inch Tecra A40-K and new 15.6-inch Tecra A50-K laptops runningIntel’s 12th Gen “Alder Lake” processors (CPU). Both laptops can be equipped with Intel’s P28W chips, with vPro and standard options available depending on your needs. They’re backed by up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM with two SODIMM slots available, as well as up to a 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD. There’s no dedicated GPU; instead you’re looking at Intel Iris Xe or Intel UHD integrated graphics. Both are available with Windows 10 orWindows 11Pro.

These laptops are designed to be workhorses that can withstand use above and beyond what you’d usually find in a normal office environment. Not only do the PCs come with MIL-STD-810H certification to prove their durability, they also come with an antimicrobial coating on the lid, palm rest, and bottom panel. There are a number of security measures baked in, including an IR camera and webcam shutter, fingerprint reader, TPM 2.0 chip, lock slot, and optional Smart Card reader. These are both Microsoft Secured-core PCs.

Ports are the same across the A40-K and the A50-K despite the size difference. You get dual Thunderbolt 4, two USB-A 3.2 (Gen 1), HDMI, RJ45 Ethernet, a 3.5mm audio combo jack, and a microSD card reader. Wireless connectivity is either IntelWi-Fi 6Eor Realtek Wi-Fi 6, with Bluetooth 5.0 or 5.2 depending on the modem.

The Tecra A40-K’s 14-inch display comes in HD or FHD resolutions. The latter is available with a TN panel, and IPS panel, or an IPS touch panel. The Tecra A50-K’s 15.6-inch display similarly comes in HD or FHD resolutions, with the higher-res screen being offered in touch and non-touch.

Both laptops come with Dynabook’s Online Meeting software that leverages AI to improve video conferencing. It intelligently blurs backgrounds, adjusts lighting, and keeps your face centered. This is the same feature available inDynabook’s Portégé X30L, X30W, and X40L laptopsannounced March 3. As for warranty, you can expect one or three years of Dynabook +Care Service with on-site help for pre-built configs, or up to four years on custom builds.
