This month’sPatch Tuesday updateslanded with a plethora of bugfixesand improvements. These include both security and non-securityupdatesfor allWindows 10versions.

If you’re runningWindows 10v1607, you can now download and install KB4494440 on your machine. This build takes the existing version of Windows 10 Anniversary Update to build version14393.2969.

This build didn’t introduce any new changes to the operating system. However, there are some important quality enhancements that make thisupdateworth downloading.

Security flaws fixed

Microsoft recently discovered a newside-channel vulnerability inWindows 10and named it as Microarchitectural Data Sampling. This security flaw targeted various 64-bit versions of Windows. Thankfully, Microsoft fixed this flaw in this release.

Zone transfers failure

KB4494440 fixed an issue that was restricting zone transfers over TCP. This bug can only appear during a transfer case involving primary and secondary servers.

1309 error message

Microsoft addressed an issue that was popping up 1309 error message.  The bug appeared during installation orremoving of some file typessaved on a virtual drive.

As a matter of fact, Microsoft acknowledged a total number of four known issues that came along with KB4494440.

Microsoft warned its users that they may encounter the error2245 (NERR_PasswordTooShort). Notably, this bug causes cluster service to fail.

This error message appears if you set 14 or more characters for theMinimum Password Lengthgroup policy setting.

Moving further, the second bug is related to some specific operations that may fail to complete. The tech giant says that you may encounter the following error code while renaming your files and folders: STATUS_BAD_IMPERSONATION_LEVEL (0xC00000A5)

Microsoft suggested some temporary workarounds to fix these issues. You can expect a permanent fix in the upcoming release.
