Call of Duty 2022 and Warzone 2 to launch together later this year

Following a conference call between Call of Duty development studio leads and content creators, details about the 2022 premium Call of Duty title are being released, along with confirmation about the rumored next-gen sequel for Call of Duty: Warzone.
Call of Duty: 2022 is confirmed to be a sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) and is in the hands of Infinity Ward, which was also the lead studio for the 2019 release and the original creators behind Warzone. Both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 will be released with an entirely new engine developed from the ground up with next-gen consoles in mind, as well as the future of the franchise where the games tie in better together. While there has yet to be an official title released for Warzone 2, the studio leads did promise that the title would be a “massive evolution of Battle Royale with all-new playspace and a new sandbox mode.”
In the meantime, there are significant plans for updates to help improve Call of Duty: Warzone’s current stability issues. However, any hopes for a FOV (field of view) slider to be added have been dashed. According to apost on the official Call of Duty blog, there were significant concerns about the impact of a FOV slider on the performance of Warzone on the Xbox One and PS4. Attempting to add the FOV slider for the Series X|S versions of the game, unfortunately, put players at a significant disadvantage.
According toCharlieIntel, last-gen players continue to make up the majority of the game’s install base, and that developers were actively tracking crash rates for Warzone. A follow up comment from ModernWarzone further elaborated that the creators were shown a graph detailing that Xbox platforms had experienced 5.1 million crashes in a single month.
Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone will be receiving content updates to prepare forSeason 2, which will be going live on Feb. 14. Warzone’s Season 2 patch will bring fixes for more than 30 glitches and quality of life concerns including:
ModernWarzone, who was in on the call with the developers,stated in a tweetthat the developers believed Warzone had become too bloated following its integrations with Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard, and were concerned the game had “lost its soul.” Additionally, they stated that Franchise Director Patrick Kelly told those on the call that plans for future integrations will be different for Warzone 2.
