Battlefield 2042, the latest entry in the long-running first-person shooter franchise from Electronic Arts and DICE, has gone through something a rough launch window, with numerous bugs and issues encountered by players. DICE shared an update on Tuesday, explaining that Season One of Battlefield 2042 is being delayed to sometime in early summer 2022.

As part of this delay, DICEexplainedthat after a March update, the team is focused on implementing VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) chat for crossplay. Season One will bring a new bundle of special items for owners of Battlefield 2042 Gold and Ultimate editions.

In ourreview of Battlefield 2042, we found that the game was a mixed bag, with great features tarnished by bugs and some odd design choices.

Moving ahead, the Battlefield franchise isbeing overseenby Respawn Entertainment co-founder Vince Zampella, who is also overseeing three new Star Wars games from Respawn. Ripple Effect (formerly known as DICE L.A.) and a new Seattle team are both working on additional Battlefield content moving forward.

Battlefield 2042 is the latest big game from DICE, with support from several other teams at Electronic Arts Worldwide Studios. The game supports destruction, massive storms and up to 128 players on the latest consoles.
